'Shifting Realities: Myth and Landscape in Alan Garner's Fiction' A talk for London Fortean Society, live in London E1.

A Talk for The London Fortean Society at The Bell, E1.

In this talk live in London I will explore the shifting nature of reality that emerges through the interplay of history, folklore and landscape within Alan Garner’s early novels of the 1960s, The Weirdstone of Brisingamen, The Moon of GomrathElidor and Red Shift. Garner has been exploring creatively the landscape of his native Cheshire for over sixty years; his fictional landscape is a country in which fantastic creatures from mythology erupt into the mundane world, communication between dimensions is possible in a supernatural multiverse and events proceed through the operation of repeated actions played out across generations, articulated through folktale, myth and story, as Garner takes his cue from the quantum universe and the overarching constellations above Alderley Edge.

Tickets for this live event will be available from the London Fortean Society from their website BOOK TICKETS HERE - page opens to the London Fortean Society’s external site which might be slow in responding. Any problems, let me know!

Please note, I will be repeating this talk at Owl House Seminars online after the event for those who can’t join me in London.
