Join us at the Owl House with Dr. Linda Sever, expert in Anglo- Saxon history and witchcraft, for a two-part online lecture series exploring Women’s use of magic and witchcraft in 8th - century England. Dr Linda reveals the earliest evidence of women magic-workers from archaeology, art history, ecclesiastical records, religious laws against witchcraft and priests’ handbooks. The untold story of Anglo- Saxon English women’s magic is a rich history which Linda will tell through case studies of records of how witches were actually treated, sifting the fake news from the folklore (shape-shifting witches!), the myth from the reality. Part one Monday 28th April, online via Zoom, Part Two Wednesday 7th May, online via Zoom. We meet at 18.45, the lecture starts at 19.00 and there’s plenty of time for questions and discussion before the session closes by 20.45.
